FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to the Xstream 3D Prints FAQ. Find answers to common questions about our DTF transfers, UV DTF transfers, gang sheets, artwork requirements, ordering, production, shipping, and application.

1. What is a DTF transfer?

DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfers are full-color designs printed onto specialized film and designed to be applied to compatible fabrics using a heat press. DTF printing is popular for creating custom T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, tote bags, uniforms, merchandise, and other apparel.

2. What is a DTF gang sheet?

A DTF gang sheet allows you to place multiple designs, logos, names, or graphics onto one larger sheet. Gang sheets are a cost-effective way to order multiple DTF transfers while maximizing the available printing area.

3. Can I build my own DTF gang sheet?

Yes. Our DTF Gang Sheet Builder allows you to upload your artwork, arrange your designs, adjust sizes, duplicate graphics, and build your sheet online before placing your order.

4. Can I upload a gang sheet that I already created?

Absolutely. If your gang sheet is already designed and ready for printing, choose our Upload Your DTF Gang Sheet option. Be sure your artwork is correctly sized and prepared at high resolution before uploading.

5. What is UV DTF?

UV DTF (UV Direct-to-Film) is a transfer process designed primarily for compatible hard surfaces. UV DTF transfers can create vibrant, detailed, professional-looking graphics without requiring a heat press.

6. What can UV DTF transfers be applied to?

UV DTF transfers work well on many smooth, clean, non-porous hard surfaces, including glass, acrylic, metal, plastic, tumblers, cups, packaging, signs, and promotional products.

Surface compatibility can vary, so we recommend testing when working with an unfamiliar or specially coated material.

7. What is the difference between DTF and UV DTF?

DTF transfers are primarily designed for fabrics and require heat and pressure for application.

UV DTF transfers are designed primarily for hard surfaces and are applied without a heat press.

If you're decorating apparel, DTF is generally the appropriate choice. For tumblers, glass, acrylic, and similar hard products, consider UV DTF.

8. Do UV DTF transfers require a heat press?

No. UV DTF transfers do not require a heat press. They are transferred directly onto a properly prepared compatible surface using the transfer film.

9. What file types should I upload?

For the best printing results, we recommend high-resolution PNG files with transparent backgrounds when appropriate. Other supported file formats may be available depending on the product and uploader.

Always make sure your artwork is clean, correctly sized, and high resolution before submitting your order.

10. What resolution should my artwork be?

For best results, artwork should generally be prepared at 300 DPI at the intended print size. Low-resolution images may appear pixelated, blurry, or less detailed when printed.

Starting with high-quality artwork gives you the best opportunity for a sharp, professional-quality transfer.

11. Do you remove backgrounds from artwork?

Customers should submit artwork ready for production, including removing unwanted backgrounds when necessary. If your design requires a transparent background, please make sure it is properly removed before uploading.

12. Will the colors on my transfer look exactly like my screen?

Not always. Computer and phone displays use RGB light, while printing processes reproduce color differently. Monitor settings, artwork color profiles, materials, and other factors can cause slight differences between on-screen colors and the finished printed product.

13. Do you have a minimum order?

We offer options suitable for both small and larger orders, making Xstream 3D Prints a convenient choice for individuals, creators, small businesses, apparel brands, and professional print shops.

14. How quickly are orders produced?

We focus on providing fast turnaround and dependable production. Actual processing times can vary based on the product, order size, artwork, current production volume, and other factors.

Please check the applicable product information or contact us if you have a time-sensitive order.

15. When does my turnaround time begin?

Production time generally begins once your order and print-ready artwork have been successfully received and are ready for production. Artwork problems or missing information can potentially delay an order.

16. Do you offer shipping?

Yes. Xstream 3D Prints offers shipping so customers can conveniently order our printing products without needing to be local to Compton, California.

Available shipping methods, pricing, and estimated transit times are shown during checkout when applicable.

17. Does shipping time include production time?

No. Production time and carrier transit time are separate. Once your order has been completed and transferred to the shipping carrier, delivery timing depends on the selected shipping service and carrier.

18. How do I apply a DTF transfer?

DTF transfers are applied using a heat press with the appropriate temperature, pressure, and pressing time.

Because different fabrics and transfer products can require different settings, always follow the DTF Heat Press Instructions provided by Xstream 3D Prints for your transfer.

19. Can I use a household iron for DTF transfers?

For consistent professional results, we strongly recommend using a quality heat press. Household irons typically provide less consistent temperature and pressure, which can affect adhesion and durability.

20. How should I prepare a surface for UV DTF?

The application area should be clean, dry, smooth, and free of dust, oils, and residue before applying your UV DTF transfer. Proper surface preparation helps achieve better adhesion and a cleaner finished appearance.

21. Can I resize my artwork after uploading it?

Our gang sheet builder may allow you to resize and arrange your designs. However, enlarging low-resolution artwork does not increase its original image quality.

For the best results, upload artwork that is already high resolution and suitable for your desired finished size.

22. Do you check every file before printing?

Customers are responsible for submitting correctly sized, properly formatted, print-ready artwork. Always carefully review your gang sheet, spelling, sizing, orientation, transparency, and image quality before completing your order.

23. Can Xstream 3D Prints help with large or recurring orders?

Yes. We welcome inquiries from print shops, apparel brands, businesses, organizations, schools, creators, and other customers needing larger or recurring printing orders.
